Lynn Smith

I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) accredited by the CCPDT. My commitment is to utilize positive reinforcement training techniques while adhering to the least invasive and minimally aversive methods (LIMA).

I have an equine background and

have been training dogs for 16+

years.  Many years have been spent in animal rescues, fostering dogs and puppies.  In addition, I worked as a Veterinary Assistant for 5 years, and raised and trained service dogs for nearly 10 years.  Today my studies continue towards being a Certified Behavior Consultant.

I have the skills and wide range of experience that equip me with the knowledge and understanding to resolve issues that arise with our canine companions.  Shy dogs and rescue dogs often have challenges when they come home and they require a special kind of understanding.  At Canine Calling, we have the insight and understanding. I love my work and think every day is a great day if it's spent helping dogs and people live better together.

At present, I have one dog, my forever dog Coffee. Life with

Coffee has been a journey helping her recover from lack of early socialization and overcoming the fears that accompany that sort of background.  At 12, she accepted that I come home smelling of strange dogs.

I hold the Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) designation from the CCPDT and am a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers.  I am a Canine Good Citizen approved Evaluator.  In addition to training family pets, my experience includes coaching individuals with physical and mental

challenges to train their own service dogs.

For over 15 years, I have been active with local animal rescues and work with shelter dogs of all kinds, including young puppies and highly under-socialized puppy mill dogs.

My extensive background with various dog personalities, breeds,  and sizes allows me to effectively modify behaviors, achieve training goals, and ensure positive results for families and their pets. Canine Calling recognizes that every dog is unique, and

we utilize the best solutions for each individual dog in order to foster a strong bond between humans and their canine companions.

Dogs never cease to amaze me, and I truly love what I do!

I share my home with three large breed rescue dogs, and four rescue cats. Throughout the years, I've welcomed various large breed dogs and mixes into my home, including Great Pyrenees, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Hounds, an English Setter, and a Doodle.
